Pictured Rocks Michigan; Day 7; Thursday 8/25/2011

We rode away from Muskegon, MI at 8:45.  Skies were clear and it was 70 degrees.  Another beautiful day!

We rode south to Holland, MI and visited the Windmill Island Gardens (http://www.cityofholland.com/windmillislandgardens).  The grounds were prettyWindmill Island Gardensand there was an authentic Dutch windmill that was actually disassembled in the Netherlands, transported to this location, and reassembled.  It is a working windmill that still grinds grain into flour.  The tour was very informative and it was interesting to see how a windmill works.Windmill Island Gardens

We continued south to South Haven, MI were we visited the marina and took our last look at Lake Michigan (for this trip, anyway).  The wind blowing in from the lake was whipping up some impressive surf.  There were big swells moving from the Lake Michigan end of the channel, down the channel, and into the marina.  It was a very pretty area and we enjoyed a picnic lunch there.picnic lunch at South Haven, MI

Our trip continued south to South Bend, IN.  We rode our magnificent machines around the campus of the University of Notre Dame and took a few pics.

We rode west on Hwy 2 into Illinois, where Hwy 2 became Hwy 17 and stopped for the day in Bradley, IL (just north of Kankakee, IL).  Our lodging for the night was a Super 8 Motel.  We had dinner at a nearby Coyote Canyon buffet and carried our bellies away in wheel barrows.  We enjoyed a swim in the motel pool before calling it a night.

It was another great day of motorcycle riding with good friends.  We rode 265 miles and, again, saw some great scenery.  The high temp today was 81.
