Northern Wanderings; Day 2

We departed our hotel in Peoria, IL at 8:10. It was 75 degrees and sprinkling rain. It was raining or threatening rain until about 9:30 and the roads were wet longer than that. I'm very glad that I didn't make the effort to clean Poonie last night.

Our route today was Highway 24 eastbound out of Peoria. At Chenoa, IL we turned north onto Historic Route 66, which ran mostly parallel to I-55 to Dwight, IL.

From Dwight, IL our route was 17 east, 114 east, 10 east (in Indiana), 421 north, I-94 east, and I-196 north to South Haven, MI.

Lunch was at a Cracker Barrel in Stevensville, MI and we had fried chicken again. Tomorrow we will NOT eat fried food for lunch! We lost an hour today (eastern time zone) and arrived at our hotel at about 3:30. After checking in we drove to downtown South Haven and walked to the beach and lighthouse on Lake Michigan.

Before returning to our hotel we stopped for an ice cream dinner at the Sherman Dairy Bar. Our "baby" ice cream cones had two big scoops!

We drove 268 miles today. The high temperature was 83. Top was down a good part of the day.
