Glacier NP & Canada; Day 3

Our day started in Pierre, SD with a walk along the Missouri River.  It was cloudy and 64 degrees.

At 9:15 we were on the road westbound on Highway 34.  It was still cloudy and 64 and we were expecting rain anytime during our ride today.  We saw a butt load of sunflower fields today, both in South and North Dakota.  We stopped at one for some pics.

A little further west on 34 we came upon the Little Brown Methodist Church.
As you can see from this picture there were a couple moments today when we had a brief glimpse of blue sky.

Highways 34 and 73 took us west and north to Lemmon, SD, where we refueled the wing and ate some lunch at the Alaska Cafe.  Highways 12 and 22 took us west and north to Dickinson, ND, where we stopped for the day at the Comfort Inn.  It was a SWEET choice for lodging.  The room was nice, the hot tub was wonderful and they served complimentary cocktail weenies and crackers at 5:00.

Our ride today covered 289 miles.  It was 64 degrees when we left Pierre, SD and that was our high temperature for the day.  It was 59 when we hit Dickinson, ND at 3:00 mountain time.  The very good news was that it never rained on us.  On several occasions we rode on wet highway but that is way better than rain when it's 59 degrees.

Two observations from today.  We saw numerous clusters of bee hives so that must be a popular thing to do in the Dakotas.  The area of South Dakota that we rode through is very sparsely populated.  More so, I think, than western Kansas.  As a result, traffic was very light.  Despite that, we saw 19 fellow motorcyclists along the way.
